According to a police official, Rawat, an employee of Cybersys Infotech Ltd (CIL), was held for allegedly helping Parmar acquire data from a BPO company.
Parmar, owner of Leicester-based City Credit Management Limited, had been arrested on charges of stealing data and criminal breach of trust. CIL claimed that he has passed along information about the company's European customers to other BPO companies.
The police has already seized Parmar's laptop computer, and recovered several of his personal email IDs. CIL data had been sent to Parmar's IDs and may have been forwarded to others. Police are tracing where the data may have been sent to.
Indian BPOs are concerned about data theft as other cases have occurred in Gurgaon and Nagpur recently.
