Why Outsourcing
Filed in archive Opinions & Insights on August 27, 2007

Whenever I tell other people that I blog about outsourcing, I usually get two reactions. The first one would be having that big "WHY" on their foreheads and the other reaction would be a curious yet satisfied glint in their eyes showing a reaction like "Thank God!".
Thanks to these reactions, I've decided to have a blog post dedicated on the reason why I am writing this blog. Personally, outsourcing is a very fascinating topic that affects me in a different way. I am born in the Philippines and as you all know, it is an emerging outsourcing destination. I have to say that outsourcing has a tremendous effect in outsourcing especially to my generation.
Before, the unemployment rate in my country was very high and fresh graduates have two options: Be employed in a big company yet be tremendously underpaid or be unemployed for about 6 months and be employed yet still underemployed. Nowadays, fresh graduates who have the right skills could be employed in an outsourcing company and be adequately compensated and more.
This change in my country also provoked me to think about the other side of the coin which means the effect that it has to the workers that were the ones previously employed for the outsourced jobs. Research and constant updating in this topic made me realize that there is so much more in outsourcing than having jobs.
Its efffect is something that could inspire a negative or positive reaction and I intend to discuss and talk about it in a rational and balanced manner which shows the different sides of outsourcing.
Have I achieved this goal? Please give me feedback because I still want to improve despite having covered this topic for more than 3 years already. :)
