The company has tapped Madura garments for a distribution arrangement in order to penetrate the local market. Stores have already been launched in Mumbai and Bangalore where its brands are being sold.
Thomas Johannes Grote, Esprit COO, said sourcing would increase in the country. He said India would become "one of the most important market" for the company in the next 10-12 years, and that Esprit wants to build its brand in the country.
Hemchandra Javeri, Madura Garments president, said, "We are aiming at key segments of women's wear, premium relaxed clothes and accessories, which will add to the flavor in premium retail business."
