Tipping Point in Outsourcing
Filed in archive Outsourcing News on January 31, 2007
How would you know if you have reached the tipping point in outsourcing? Well, according to Malcolm Gladwell "tipping point occurs when a phenomenon starts to multiply exponentially, as though it were an infectious virus."
It seems like Accenture is set up to bring the tipping point with their announcement indicating that the number of Indian workers would outgrow US-based Accenture workers. According to the news, the consulting and outsourcing company will add 8,000 workers in India this year, bringing its total head count in the country to 35,000.
This does not mean that the company would not continue recruitment in other countries. India's high recruitment rate was described as "crucial" for the company's business strategy.
This is indeed a big move for the company. Let's wait and see if other companies would do the same and if they did, then that is the tipping point.
