The Pope Comes Out Against Outsourcing

In Section 40 of a recent "Caritas in Veritate" produced by the Vatican, Pope Benedict warns that business enterprises have lost ties to stakeholders, instead being only answerable to stockholders, and thus dramatically affecting, and disadvantaging an organization's workers and the communities in which they exist.
This is interesting territory for the Vatican to cross into, no doubt. It has also caused concern in the Indian market - in a globalized market, as the Pope may be the single most influential voice coming out against outsourcing. We'll see if it makes any difference at all.

I find that the Pope's words in his encyclical letter were miscontrued to sensationalistic ends.
His "Charity in Truth" was not a counter against outsourcing but a call for every enterprise to practice greater corporate social responsibility in their business sphere of influence both at home and off-shore.

@Outsource Opinionist yeah, that makes sense. It's true that the CSR doesn't always reach us here (in fact it's very seldom)--but I also think it's the responsibility (heh) of the respective call center companies to practice the CSR in their own country.
