Do you think outsourcing is overused?
This is exactly what Joe Tucci, Chairman and CEO of EMC Corporation thinks about outsourcing.
This is what the CEO has to say in this kind of business strategy:
"I think outsourcing is an overused word. I think what you are going to see more of is companies willing to outsource a business process. So, for instance, in EMC we outsource all our payroll, but we outsource the entire process, not just the IT process. So I think you are going to see a lot more of that. I think you are not going to see wholesale take everything. I think that market is slowing down."
I totally agree with Joe Trucci is saying because not all companies could benefit from outsourcing and outsourcing everything does not necessarily solve everything. It would be benefecial if "selective outsourcing" would be implemented. This means that only tasks that are eligible for outsourcing should be outsourced hence the good outcome.

As a U.S. manufacturer, we have focused on the unique benefits we can offer as a domestic producer. We have the advantage of offering more customization with faster deliver times, turnkey marketing support for our resale customers, consistently high-quality products, and great personal service. I feel a commitment to support the workforce that has help build my business, and for me offshoring is not an option. I beleive that a "live person" answering the phone, and one who is friendly and easy-to-understand, is the most important first impression we can make. By providing service and support to assure the effective sell-through of our products at retail, the "value" we deliver goes far beyond merely price.

Many businesses thoroughly understand the benefits of outsourcing. It's true that outsourcing can save money, but that's not the only reason to do it

I completely agree with Tucci. Wholesale outsourcing was a good idea in theory but under-delivered on the value promised.
I like your term "selective outsourcing" and agree that it is the future. I'd also add that businesses will look to local outsourcing agencies for their outsourcing needs for one simple reason...relationship. Local agencies can offer a level of personal commitment and trust that the international behemoths could not.

Outsourcing had long been overused. Companies are willing to take this risk to cut production costs. I think outsourcing is more of quantity, more than quality. I agree about selective outsourcing, because it is best for a company to outsource only a part of their business process.

Yeah, me too. Outsourcing everything on a company's department is not a wise thing to do, it might lead to possiblity of profit lose if not done appropriately.
