Samsung, LG Turn to Indian Outsourcing
Filed in archive Outsourcing News on November 19, 2005
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have decided to reduce their Indian workforce in South Korea. The global electronics makers will instead outsource their operations to India.
Joe Lawrence, software engineer from Samsung's Indian branch said, "We work project-by-project, so we move between India and South Korea. We don't stay here for a long time."
He said that most of the 100 Indians working in Korea are there on temporary projects, and that his Indian co-workers may not want to work permanently in the country due to cultural and language differences.
Lawrence said he feels at home in Korean and has no problems working in the country, however, he added, "Not many of people here speak very good English though we can still communicate."
