Renault Signs IT Outsourcing Deals

French auto manufacturer Renault awarded IT contracts to Computer Sciences Corporation ($236 million), Hewlett-Packard ($150 million) and Atos Origin ($402.4 million). The automaker will revamp its IT structure by revitalizing their application portfolio, workstation, and operations.
The three companies will provide different services for Renault. Atos Origin will cover maintenance and development of Renault's application portfolio. Computer Sciences will conduct infrastructure management services. (This includes network, midrange and mainframe support to Renault sites in France and Spain.) And Hewlett-Packard will handle day-to-day management of Renualt's workstations and their environment.
In 2003, the Renault Group decided to revolutionize its IT and systems function to meet international demands. Renault has already reorganized its Information Technologies and Systems Department to improve information systems within the Renault Group and modernize operations with suppliers. Additionally, it has established technological partnerships with cisco, Dassualt, IBM, Microsoft and SAP.
"Renault hopes the multi-million contracts will help it to pursue innovation in the core processes in the automotive industry, and to improve the skills of its staff."
