Philippines' PHP3B Outsourcing High-Rise

Filed in archive Outsourcing News by Danny on February 13, 2005

Philippine property developer, Megaworld Corporation, will construct a PHP3 billion high-rise building providing new office space for the country's growing BPO and IT sector.

The high-rise will be built in two phases. Megaworld said that the first phase of construction -- development of 40,000 square meters of gross space -- would start immediately to meet an early 2007 completion date.

The new building will be situated at the Philippines 16-hectare special economic zone, Eastwood City Cyberpark. Here, it will enjoy tax privileges along with other cyberpark residents, citibanklinks, IBM and Trend Micro Inc.

A recent study by BNP Paribas S.A. said that the Philippines' BPO industry, which was valued at $173 million in 2002, would grow into a $10 billion industry by 2012.
