Philippine Outsourcing
Filed in archive Outsourcing News on May 15, 2007
One of the most popular outsourcing destinations today is the Philippines and the country is also becoming a fast favorite of American companies.
The reason why most American companies prefer the Philippines is because of the similarities in both cultures. This means that cultural difference is less here as compared to other outsourcing destination.
When asked why Philippines, Michael Garrison of Dell remarked that "we (Dell) came to the Philippines specifically for growth because of the availability of talent and because of the great communications skills available here. We're serving U.S. Customers out of our site here."
I really feel that the Philippines could go far with BPO provided that the country recognizes and it and develops this industry by implementing different programs.

Most governments have the track record of eventually making a mess out of a very good program. I therfore recommend a cautious approach in dealing with this matter. There is indeed a huge potential for the country to become a BPO super power but most of the initiative to harness such should come from the private sector.

The underlying resons why the Philippines has become the preferred outsourcing destination not only of the American companies and the European as well are the ongoing concerted efforts by different chambers in the Philippines and the continued support from the government of the Philippines.
Although, India is still considered number 1 in this field. However, the Philippines is fast catching up as a strong contender of the former.

Very true, I have read a recent article about outsourcing that focuses on Philippines. It really feels great that after prolonged criticisms regarding the countries government, now it has recovered and hailed third on revenue after researchers have conducted a review on Asian countries that offers outsourcing services.
