Outsourcing for the Environment
Filed in archive Outsourcing Issues on October 8, 2007

The environment could benefit a lot if companies start to outsource their IT functions.
This statement was emphasized in this research report entitled Creating Cost and Efficiency through Outsourcing Hosted Solutions by analyst firm IDC. According to the research, the potential for having a cleaner environment due to outsourcing could be possible especially if companies outsource their IT.
James Eibisch, research director at IDC's European telecoms also made a comment regarding the study's conclusion stating that:
"By outsourcing they can offload much of the uncertainty of future environmental legislation and regulation to a third party, resulting in a reduction in long-term risk to the company."
Personally, it sounds great for these countries but the question here is what is going to happen to the outsourcing countries now doing these jobs? Would they also contribute in saving the environment?
That is something that we all need to think about.

This statement by the analyst has strongly helped not only for the benefits to the other company but also to our environment..They should be follow and practice keeping of those ideas so that they could remember what to do and what they need to do for the success of everyone!

I believe you're referring to green sourcing, which is among one of the most talked about spheres in outsourcing.
In fact, I read a recent article on this myself as among the trends to watch for in the next five years, when it comes to outsourcing.

It covers quite a bit - definitely something to discuss, don't you think?
