NSW Extends Fujitsu Outsourcing Deal

Fujitsu's contract with New South Wales Road and Traffic authority (RTA) has been extended. The company will provide RTA with data center outsourcing services for three more years, and has an option to extend the contract to seven years. The contract will take effect on July 2005.

Under the new contract, Fujitsu will continue to host about 800 corporate applications from two data centers in Sydney. These applications are the DRIVES information management system, the Integrated Management System for RTA business operations, the Property Information and Management System, and the Road Information Systems. Additionaly, Fujitsu would manage RTA's entire technology environment which includes 5,000 desktop computers in 220 locations.

RTA CIO Greg Carvouni, said that the new deal will "ensure that [RTA's] IT systems continue to operate at the very high levels of reliability necessary to help manage the safe and efficient use of the road transport network."
