Negative Attitude Towards Outsourcing Still Exists

The negativity regarding the outsourcing issue still exists despite the fact that many companies are pursuing this business strategy.

One example of such negativity could be seen in the case of Boston Globe. The company recently decided to outsource some of their functions to India thus gaining negative feedbacks from their employees. Most of these Boston Globe employees insists that it is the "Boston Globe" and not the "Bangalore Globe". Aside from that, additional print and TV ads are circulating asking readers and adverstisers to boycoot Boston Globe and its parent company, The New York Times.

The union even mentioned that the company's outsourcing decision was a "egregious mistake" and said outsourcing of its members' jobs to Bangalore, India could dramatically and negatively impact the quality of customer relationships with The Boston Globe.
Though that is the case, the company insisted that their outsourcing decision was a difficult one yet necessary for the company's continuity.

Privacy as a reason to not outsource? Remember, just last year the Boston Globe sent out it’s subscribers credit card information as newspaper toppers. See http://rationaloutsourcing.blogspot.com/2007/03/bangalore-nee-boston-globe-why-privacy.html for details
