NASSCOM, CBI Join Hands

NASSCOM and CBI, the Dutch centre for promotion of imports from developing countries, will launch an export development program offering BPO opportunities to SME's in the European Union.
Under the agreement, NASSCOM will choose promising Indian suppliers to be trained and assisted by CBI in exporting to Europe. CBI will help SMEs in the EU recognize the advantages of BPO, and assist them in finding Indian partners for their needs and market requirements.
Kiran Karnik, president of NASSCOM, said, "Through agreements like this, we aim to achieve the success of the IT and BPO sectors to Drip down from the major industrial cities to smaller cities that will benefit the industries and economies of Europe and India."
Ton Lansink, managing director of CBI said, "For European buyers CBI and NASSCOM will be on hand as knowledge centers to help them formulate exactly what their outsourcing demand is and to help them find a perfectly matching partner. Indian entrepreneurs can count on us to provide maximum assistance exporting to Europe. It's a double-edged sword from which all parties will benefit."
The export development program for the BPO sector was launched last year in India, South Africa and the Philippines. Over the last year, nine Indian firms have already been selected and have entered the program as fully qualified partners.

This will surely take the Indian ICT sector one step ahead. Now, some other countries are also trying to attract outsourcing and I think that joining hands with CBI will give Indian companies an edge.
