MPO was discussed further in this article written by Jim Holland. According to the author, MPO helps companies in achieving three main goals which would help the companies. The three goals which were mentioned includes:
-cutting costs
-maintaining the outstanding quality of companies
-focusing on core competencies
The difference between outsourcing and MPO was also further emphasized. MPO was described as an "innovative" alternative to offshoring and outsourcing. MPO's intent is to run a "business within a business" because it involves outsourcing manufacturing functions to a vendor which could actually operate inside the company's facility but at the same time, ensuring the quality of the product.
