Medical Outsourcing

Outsourcing has certainly evolved. Aside from the usual tasks of call center agents, BPO-related functions, and the like, medical outsourcing is slowly inching its way in the scene.
Yes, I know exactly what you are thinking: What is Medical Outsourcing. To tell you more about it, let me share a story regarding this kind of situation:
One woman flew 30 hours to Indian in order to have a 30-minute surgery at 1/3 the cost in America. Because her condition was considered "pre-existing," she was not covered by her health plan. Her condition made it painful to walk and sit for any length of time, and she was in constant pain-not how we should want people to live their lives. But she worked for a small company, and the insurance wouldn't cover it. Her employer, however, kept searching for a different solution to help her fix the situation. The answer was PlanetHospital.
Seems Unreal? Believe it. Medical Outsourcing is now a reality which gives American people more option regarding their medical treatment.

As the medical-cost crisis deepens, the corporations who pay insurers are likely to find the lure of outsourcing as irresistible in health care as it is in software.

Carol, can you see in to the future?
When you wrote this blog in 2006, medical tourism was definitely in the infancy stage in this country. With the recent health care reforms, the industry is poised to grow.
