Legal Outsourcing Raises Doubts

The future of legal outsourcing seems to be bright. Well, it is according to the recent research report regarding legal outsourcing. Though its future sounds promising, there are still doubts regarding the said practice.
Sergio Karas, a Toronto-based immigration lawyer revealed during the American Immigration Lawyers Association some of the issues that could be found in legal outsourcing. One issue which was that the lawyer is not as close to the work produced, in terms of being able to review it, but remains ultimately responsible for it.
Some mechanical aspects have already been outsourced like court filing agents and legal process servers. These tasks are "ok" to be outsourced because these things does not fully participate in the preparation of the final documents.
I guess what they are trying to say here that not every tasks in the legal department could be outsourced because the reputation of these lawyers are at risk. Just like in every business, certain tasked should only be considered when thinking of outsourcing.

Legal Outsourcing will serve primarily as a support service. ‘Not as close to the work’ is not true considering most of our clients thoroughly review the work product including the cases cited. They often times come back with further direction as to where they want to take some of their legal research.
This is very much analogous to a partner working with associates. The partner reviews the work and directs it. But the associates do the grunt work of preparing it. Trust me, legal outsourcing works this way. I can tell with confidence because we operate in this fashion.
