Document Process Outsourcing (a term coined by the researchers) describes the outsourcing of document-intensive processes. It has been identified as an important and rapidly growing segment in the document outsourcing industry.
Holly Muscolino, director at InfoTrends/CAP Ventures said, "In our annual
U.S. Document Outsourcing Market Forecast, we reported $691 million of the $30.5 billion document outsourcing market was attributed to document process outsourcing." She added, "This segment is expected to grow at an astounding compound annual growth rate of almost 18%, bringing DPO revenue to $1.5 billion in 2008." The study will be done through in-depth interviews and focus groups with C-level and line-of-business managers in various fields. It will combine qualitative and quantitative research methods where respondents would answer specific questions as well as discuss DPO topics.
Some of the questions in the study will include: 'What is the level of willingness to outsource document-intensive business processes, 'Who are the ultimate DPO decision-makers,' and 'How should DPO engagements be structured?'
Additionally, a complementary study that focuses on skills, providers and market environment in DPO will be researched as well.
