According to the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), India's IT industry would see positive growth despite infrastructure problems. NASSCOM stated that total revenues are likely to rise to $36.3 billion from $28.4 billion last year.

engineeringlinks services are likely to grow by 23 percent ($4.8 billion), software exports will increase to 32 percent ($13.2 billion), and domestic technology services are expected to rise to 23 percent ($4.3 billion). IT-enabled services and the BPO sector are seen as top performers, with a 38 percent growth ($7.2 billion).

Kiran Karnik, NASSCOM president, said, "The BPO story is continuing to be robust and strong, and the engineering services [are] getting more important."

However, a lack of adequate infrastructure is hampering growth. S. Ramadorai, chief executive of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., said, "This is a matter of considerable concern to us." Ramadorai stated that NASSCOM is in talks with to construction firms in Singapore to create nearly a dozen "integrated townships" in a bid to get around infrastructure hurdles.
