Outsourcing Issues
by Carol Kendrick on September 8, 2006

Sulagna Roy, 23, an employee of a call centre in the city's IT hub at Sector 5 of Salt Lake, was arrested on Friday from her James Long Sarani residence in south Kolkata on charges of cheating foreign nationals by using their credit card numbers and shopping for goods worth Rs 200,000.
This kind of situation could be considered as one of the "risks" associated in outsourcing. I believe that outsourcing companies should be the one responsible in making sure that this kind of sensitive information should remain confidential. If outsourcing firms would not be able to prevent this kind of situation from happening then outsourcing's reputation would go down the drain more quickly than expected.

I think it's the responsibility of the outsourcing companies to check the background of the person they are hiring and make sure such sensitive information remains confidential and not misused.
