India: Needs Improvement
Filed in archive Outsourcing Issues on October 31, 2006
This was the verdict recently given to India in terms of LPO or Legal Process Outsourcing. If India's system would not improve soon, it could soon lose out its advantage to other outsourcing destinations such as China, Malaysia, Philippines and the like.
The improvement in India should be focused on its service and ensuring that they deliver "quality results". Ashish Gupta, COO for Evalueserve expounded on this saying the following statements:
India will have to deliver high quality service in order to compete with low-cost countries. Training in the US legal system is also necessary. The key thing would be patent application drafting, Legal research, pre-litigation documentation, advising clients, writing software licensing agreements and drafting distribution agreements.
I must say that I agree with his sentiments. If legal outsourcing would indeed prosper as indicated in reports, India should be able to offer a high-quality image because other outsourcing destinations are clamoring to take its spot.
