IBM wins new procurement outsourcing deal
Filed in archive Outsourcing News on March 30, 2006
IBM has been awarded an outsourcing agreement by electronics manufacturer Solectron. IBM will manage US-based Solectron's $1.2 billion annual indirect procurement services bill.
Under the agreement, IBM will install its own procure-to-pay system to manage the indirect spend. The deal also includes temporary contract services, office equipment, utilities and telecommunication across 17 countries.
Perry Mulligan, chief procurement officer at Solectron, said, "The savings we expect from this contract will contribute to both operational and process innovation and simplification, which improves services to our customers and suppliers."

Is this deal snatched from Solectron's existing partner Wipro BPO who was handling some procurement for Solectron.
