GKN outsourcing 2,500 jobs
GKN Plc will lay off 2,500 workers in the US and France as they plan to outsource jobs to other countries .
The British automotive and aerospace group company announced that they have shut down operations in two U.S. plants and may close another in Florange, France.
Operations will be transferred to other countries in Latin America and Eastern Europe. The company plans to increase production of vehicle transmission components by 70 percent in Mexico and 40 percent in Brazil by 2007. Additionally, production from Polish and Slovakian plants will be doubled in the next 12 months.
