Dubai to tap India for outsourcing business
The Dubai Outsourcing Zone (DOZ) will tap India for its development. The $200 million free zone "will hire professionals and highly skilled workers in areas of information technology, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology" in the country.
Ismail Al Nagi, director of DOZ, said the outsourcing free zone would be commercially operational by mid 2006. Additionally, he named consultancy firm IT-people Ltd. as DOZ's exclusive partner. The Indian-based company will handle the promotion of DOZ and help clients set up their base in the zone.
Ketan Sheth, chairman of IT-people Ltd. said they would focus on outsourcing knowledge-based resources for DOZ.
Nagi added that about 65 leading companies from India, US, Germany and UK have expressed interest in the free zone. DOZ aims to acquire a five percent share of the global outsourcing business by attracting 300 companies in the next five years.
