The best thing that companies need to do is to acknowledge the different outsourcing risks in every outsourcing deal. In this way, they could do something about these risks thus minimizing the potential effect that it could bring.
Here are some of the different outsourcing risks:
Political risk - this pertains to the political situation in the offshoring/outsourcing destination that you are considering.
Reputational risk - this type of risk mainly involves the service provider and the reviews regarding the type of service that they give.
Operational risk - as the name implies, it focuses on the risks involved in the day-to-day outsourcing process.
Compliance risk - Outsourcing should follow standard regulation and unable to do so would cause a lot of problems along the way.
Strategic risk - the strategic risk concerns the whole outsourcing transaction and whether or not this business strategy coincides with the company's future goals.
Information security risk - it talks about private information and data which are handled during the outsourcing process.
