Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) won a $17.6 million outsourcing contract with China Pacific Property Insurance Co., the country's second largest property and casualty insurer.
Under the five-year contract, CSC will replace China Pacific's existing system with FutureFirst, a web-based insurance administration software. CSC will also provide support services for the software.
FutureFirst will be used to administer China Pacific's 13 million policies. Specifically, it will be used to automate business processes like customer service, billing and collection, underwriting and claims management.
Recently, China's booming economy has attracted many IT and BPO outsourcing companies such as Accenture, BearingPoint and IBM. According to officials at the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the country's emerging outsourcing industry provides services to foreign companies based in Japan (60 percent), US (15 percent) and Europe (10 percent).
