Capgemini Wins Outsourcing Contract at British Energy
UK company, Capgemini won a five-year 20 million IT outsourcing contract with British Energy (BE). They will provide outsourcing services for British Energy's 6,500 users and 300 servers.
Under the new contract, Capgemini will perform application management services for BE finance, human resources and document management systems. Additionally, the contract will involve the transfer of 28 BE employees to Capgemini. The outsourcing company will perform applications management from its Scottish headquarters in Glasgow, while desktop and server support will be run from offices in Inverness and Birmingham.
British Energy chose Capgemini because of career prospects for its transferred staff, high quality IT delivery, and excellent facilities close to BE sites. Andrew Ralston, BE's information management manager of projects and services, said, "Capgemini has already proved its ability to innovate to good effect and to enhance quality of service while at the same time driving down costs. Under the new contract we are looking to spread these same benefits to other parts of our crucial IT support function."
Ian Roy, Capgemini's outsourcing director, said, "We are once again looking forward to proving the very positive impact that well-run IT can have on business performance within the highly competitive world of UK energy."
