Leading technology and outsourcing firm Capgemini plans to expand its operations in India and increase its workforce in the country to 10,000 by 2007. Paul Hermelin, CEO of Capgemini, said, "We will ramp up the headcount in the country to 6,000 by 2006 from the current level of 4,000."
Hermelin also announced the launch of a new 500-seat center in the Salt Lake Electronic Complex. The Kolkata center will offer BPO, package implementation and web-based Custom Software development.
Paul Spence, global head of Capgemini's outsourcing services, said, "The third center in India demonstrates the expansion plans of Capgemini in the country through the Capgemini Rightshore network of BPO centers. Our Rightshore network of BPO centers has a strong presence in Poland (Krakow) and China (Guangzhou). The Kolkata center would be Capgemini's eighth center in the world."
