Business Process Outsourcing
Filed in archive Basics on February 28, 2007
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is defined as the outsourcing of specific business process task/s. The tasks outsourced are usually the ones who are "non-core" meaning that the company does not specialize on these tasks but they are important in the company.
What are those tasks? BPO is divided into two kinds. The first one being the back-office outsourcing that refers to "internal" business work. One example could be billing or purchasing tasks. The second one is called the front-office outsourcing which includes dealing with the customers. Some of the tasks included in this category are customer service or marketing.
These tasks are usually outsourced because the employees hired for this kind of outsourcing could be trained.
