Indian call centers are under fire as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) TV claims that some call centers were illegally selling personal information of Australian customers.
Information such as banking pin numbers, passport numbers, credit card details and the like were allegedly offered to reporters at just just 10 Australian dollars each.
According to a preview of ABC's Four Corners programme, information such as this could allow a person to assume false identities for online transactions. ABC did not reveal the company operating the Indian call center and the journalist who uncovered the scam.
attorney-General Philip Ruddock has asked for an investigation on ABC's allegations.
