Fujitsu Limited has struck an outsourcing deal with Japanese pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma Inc. Under the agreement, Fujitsu will take over the operation of the pharmaceutical company's information systems from its subsidiary, Astellas Systems.

Fujitsu will assimilate Astellas Systems' expertise in pharmaceutical-related information systems. The IT and communications company hopes to use this opportunity to expand its business with pharmaceutical companies.

Conversely, Astellas will employ Fujitsu's considerable experience and the existing outsourcing structure to reach a higher quality and more efficient systems operation.

Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma Inc. is a pharmaceutical company dedicated to improving the health of people around the world through the provision of innovative and reliable products. The organization is committed to becoming a global mega pharmaceutical company by combining outstanding R&D and marketing capabilities.
