Anti-Outsourcing Crusade in SV
Filed in archive Outsourcing News by on March 23, 2004
"Show me the jobs!," Silicon Valley workers shouted on TV last night. As 200,000 Silicon Valley computer workers already lost their jobs to offshore outsourcing, a Crusade to call for the returning of jobs is inevitable.

However, ABC7's MONEYScope reporter, David Louie, discovered the issue is not touching every segment of the Valley's talent pool. This week software engineers join 50 others to Washington to call for government attention in calling jobs back to the United States.

So far, Senator John Kerry has shown more than sympathy by sending a letter to President Bush in December 2003 to urge ending trade practices that would hurt American labor outlook. Bush, on the other hand, seems to support the offshore outsourcing practices as well as many macro economists.

As we all live in a global business environment, outsourcing is the way to go. As Charles Handy once said, "The future is inevitable but we can influence it if we know what we want it to be."

The future of outsourcing is not written in stone, either. As a double-sided sword, we can influence its the impact to American economy for the better.
