AirNZ Flies Towards Outsourcing
Air New Zealand recently announced their plans to outsource some of the tasks in their finance department towards offshoring destinations like China, India or the Philippines.

The outsourcing plan was part of the Air New Zealand's plan of coming up with a "competitive in-house solution". If the outsourcing deal would push through, it could affect at least 1,000 of the firm's staff or around 70 jobs,

If everything goes well with outsourcing their financial tasks, other functions like engineering services would probably be the next in line. jilllinks Ovens, the Region Secretary for Service and Food Workers Union (SFWU) remarked that the outsourcing plan is part of the firm's goal of "divesting itself of its employees and operations with the possibility to make the 80% publicly owned Air NZ shares more attractive to private buyers".
