Africa Joins the Call Center Hype
Filed in archive Outsourcing News on August 9, 2006
Call centers are considered as one of the most outsourced functions in a business. This is also the reason why countries like India and Philippines have a growing outsourcing Industry. It also seems like that Africa also wants to be known as a favorable outsourcing destination through developing their own potential as a call center provider.
In Uganda, the ministry of Education and Global Management Consortium-Trade Information Network (GMC-TIN) recently formed a partnership which would involve providing low cost yet affordable training in ICT, professional development and call center management The said program have already trained an estimate of 600 people.
The country hopes to establish itself as a favorable offshore outsourcing destination up to the point of giving India and the Philippines a run for the outsourcing industry's money. Outsourcing Analysts have mentioned that Africa would be able to develop itself as an outsourcing destination because of the impressive English skills that African people have as compared to their Asian counterparts.
